Why Nelson Mandela rocks :D

In 1993 received the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of all South Africans who suffered and sacrificed so much to bring peace to their country .Nelson Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist and leader of the African National Congress. He spent 27 years in prison, on convictions for crimes that included sabotage committed while he spearheaded the struggle against apartheid. This shows us that he not only knows how it feels to be boycotted but he also knows the goings-on and led at some point, a rebellion against the Whites.And that, in our opinion shows that Nelson Mandela was more than worthy to have become South Africa’s first black President, in that country’s first truly democratic election.

Facts on Blacks Vs Whites in South Africa

From what we have researched about the Blacks Vs Whites in South Africa, we know that there was prejudice between the people in South Africa because

The ruling white minority in South Africa would segregate, exploit and terrorize the vast majority of people from mixed races was part of a law known as Apartheid- The whites in South Africa denied the Black people of their basic human and political rights. Apartheid means ‘apartness’ in African. South African apartheid was treated internationally as unfair and racist.

From the above picture we can just about tell how tthe Whites treated the Blacks, possibly by offending them verbally and maybe even physically

Apartheid caused racist beliefs which were enshrined in law and any criticism of the law was suppressed.

It was a very meticulous system dictated in the smallest detail as to how and where the large black majority would live, work and die.

Blacks demonstrated, held strikes and rioted over such discriminatory practices

We have also learned that the lands were unequally distributed to the Blacks by the Whites who took the more fertile lands

The so-called homelands that were provided for black South Africans, were in some of the most fertile regions of the country. Billions of the tax money contributed mainly by white South Africans, were pumped into these homelands, allowing their governments to spend it as they saw fit. A large proportion of black people were content to live in their homelands, because these were the historical heartlands of their nations.

Two of the independent homelands, Ciskei and Boputatswana, resisted reintegration into South Africa, and the use of force was required to accomplish this.

We’re not trying to justify the many atrocities committed in the name of “Apartheid”, nor are we attempting to petition a return to forced racial segregation. We believe that no person should consider himself superior to others. Every human life is precious, and we are opposed to those who have no respect for life.

Life under Apartheid was not only a time of peace, stability and abundance. There were also many dreadful acts of violence by both black and white. However, this was definitely not as widespread as in the post-Apartheid era.

This is our first post, whoo. Unfortunately we had to make a move from our old site @ blogger due to some difficulties

Updates will be posted soon after I distribute the passwords and email of this site to my group members.

In case you dont know, my group, Savix are doing a project on the discrimination of whites and blacks in South Africa

My group consists of 5 members, myself, Imen as the chairman, Xiuyun as the secretary, Shadira as the motivator and last but not least, Ain and Victoria as researchers

We randomly made up our group name as we jumbled up the initials of our names

More information will be posted here as to how far the discrimination among the citizens of South Africa went
